Project management structure

The project management structure for OpenMed is organised in three main bodies, corresponding to different decision making levels:

a) Assembly of Partners (AoP)

Composed by one representative per partner institution. It is the decision-making body of the project. It is composed by:

  • Anita Tabacco, Politecnico di Torino, Italy
  • Daniel Burgos, Universidad Internacional de La Rioja, Spain
  • Isidro Maya, University of Seville, Spain
  • Katherine Wimpenny, Coventry University, UK
  • Elsayed Tag Eldin, Cairo University, Egypt
  • Seddik Tawfik, Alexandria University, Egypt
  • Khalid Berrada, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco
  • Ahmed Almakari, Université Ibn Zohr, Morocco
  • Osama Mimi, Birzeit University, Palestine
  • Saida Affouneh, An-Najah National University, Palestine

  • Mohammad Aldaoud, German Jordanian University, Jordan
  • Adiy Twessi, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Jordan (Abdallah Al Zoubi until 28-02-2016)

b) WP-Leaders

In charge of strategic input to the project, relations with external entities, input to the dissemination and communication strategy and to the post-project developments within a mainstreaming perspective. It is composed by:

  • Katherine Wimpenny, Coventry University (WP1)
  • May Wahbeh, AArU (WP2)
  • Stefania Aceto, UNIR (WP3)
  • Elsayed Tag Eldin, CU (WP4)
  • Rana Sabri El Bahsh, GJU (WP5)
  • Cristina Stefanelli, UNIMED (WP6, WP7)

c) Project Coordinator (PC)

In charge of day to day management and overall supervision of activities.

  • Cristina Stefanelli, UNIMED

Decision making mechanism

The Assembly of Partners takes decisions normally by consensus. In the unlikely case that voting becomes necessary, the majority of votes of the Assembly decides, and the vote of the Project Coordinator, being ex-officio member, is only counted in case of an equal number of pro and contra votes. Each partner has one equal vote (independent of project funding) and decisions are carried by a simple majority.
